Front & rear camera perception distance seems off..
The cameras on my 2026 Model Y Juniper are amazing in terms of image quality, but does anyone else feel like the front and rear camera distance perception is off when parking?
My previous vehicle was a Genesis GV80 with a 360° camera system. If I was about 6 inches from a wall, it looked like 6 inches from a wall on the screen. The visual representation felt very intuitive and accurate.
With the Model Y, I find parking in tight spaces, my garage, or near walls more difficult because what I see on the camera doesn’t seem to match reality. The perception feels off, and it’s hard to judge distance accurately.
I know some people will say, “Just let the car park itself,” but there are still situations where I need to manually position the car a little closer or farther from something. In those cases, I don’t feel like I can trust the cameras nearly as much as I could in my GV80.
What I find odd is that this car has far more technology, yet the parking camera perspective feels less confidence-inspiring than my previous vehicle.
Is this just something Tesla owners get used to over time, or do others feel the same way?
