16 Families Facing Displacement After Decades of Living Along Annur–Sathyamangalam Road
For decades, 16 families have lived in their homes along the Annur–Sathyamangalam Road, building their lives, raising children, and contributing to the local community.
Now, these families are facing eviction and the possible demolition of their homes as part of a road-related project. Residents say they have lived here for many years and are concerned about losing their homes, livelihoods, and community ties.
Many locals are questioning whether adequate rehabilitation, compensation, and consultation have been provided before asking families to vacate. They are calling on the authorities and the Highways Department to ensure that development projects do not come at the cost of vulnerable residents who have lived in the area for generations.
Development is important, but so is protecting the rights and dignity of people who call these places home.
What are your thoughts? Should long-term residents be guaranteed proper rehabilitation and compensation before displacement?
