What does a skunk actually smell like?
I live in England and since I was a kid, I've always wondered what they actually smell like. Could someone describe it to me?

You don't want to know. Think of the worst smell you have experienced then multiply by 100.
Is it a smell you can only understand once you've smelled it? Does it have any similarities with any other smell? I GOTS TO KNOW.
Kind of like a dead body rotting in the sun.
Ah, the ol' rotting dead body smell.
It a sulphurous odor, but with a distinctly sweet note to it. When dilute, it's not really unpleasant, but fresh out of the skunk, it's overpoweringly strong.
Ah okay, so it's the pungency that makes it so overpowering?
Edit: Thinking aloud there...
You can smell a skunk from a mile away or more, and clothes that have been sprayed by a skunk are often just burned or thrown away, rather than trying to wash it out. It's that strong.
It's also that the smell is so SHARP, like it gives me a headache just to be around it. It's really too distinct to be described. I bet someone would send you skunked clothes if you asked :D
Sharp? Urgh.
Like a mixture of burning rubber and marijuana
spray your grandmothers perfume in the air.
great weed
As it is dissipating, I relate the smell to McDonald's french fries. Anyone else?

I've heard people compare the smell of a skunk's spray to good kush, or weed.
