Devastated. Experienced a medical event and only got through one section. Apparently, I’m ineligible for the make-up exam.

I have a documented medical disability (Ulcerative Colitis) that can cause severe symptoms and essentially debilitate me.

I have extended time accommodations and longer breaks between sections to help with this.

Today, I started getting severe abdominal cramps during the first section of the exam. I tried to power through, but the pain and urgency became so distracting that I could not focus whatsoever. I ended up guessing on multiple questions in the first LR section because of my symptoms.

At my first break, I alerted my proctor that I was experiencing a medical emergency and wanted to know what my options were with continuing the exam/cancelling retaking. He told me my exam was “paused” on his end and that I needed to contact LSAC because he had no idea what the policies were. I repeatedly asked him if me exiting prometric would cause my exam to be terminated (as in I wouldn’t be able to go back to it) and he kept giving me non-answers and emphasizing it was “paused” on his end and that I could continue if that was LSAC’s policy.

I was really left with no choice at that point except to exit and call LSAC to see what the policies are. When I call LSAC, the representative tells me my circumstances would make me eligible for a retake if I submit a test day complaint. So I did — only to be told by the automated email response that “those who fell ill during the exam are ineligible for retest.”

I’m devastated. This was my fourth attempt. I’ve been comfortably PT-ing in the mid 170s. I’ve poured my heart and soul into this exam. I was prepared to kill it. I would have never expected this to happen.

Now it seems like my only solution is to take the “cancellation” as an attempt and to re-take in August. It’s crazy to think I only finished 1/4 of the exam.

I hate my body sometimes. And I hate my chronic condition. It just sucks.

Sorry for the long rant, I just would’ve never expected my body to fail me the way it did. PSA that if you’re having a medical event during the LSAT, just power through unless you drop dead because they won’t let you do the make-up test
