**TLDR: spider let me help them when stuck in moult, spider then finished moult elsewhere without my input, found same spider a few days later and they have 3 badly deformed legs, they let me remove hair stuck on one deformed leg. Spider doesn’t look very well and is slow, what do?**

So a few days ago I found this spider on the floor in my hall and they were stuck in their moult. 3 of the back legs (2 on left, 1 on right) were deformed. When I found spider I cut off the material that was no longer attached to their new exoskeleton and put them on some wet paper towel and left them underneath (but not enclosed) a shell I had.

I left them for a few hours and they’d made no progress and I was worried as at that time I could only tell one of the legs was deformed but after reading some spider care information I worried that their other legs would become deformed if they continued to be stuck. I gently wiggled the moult and was able to free them a little and they were very relaxed when I did this and didn’t run away. After a good 15-20 minutes of very gentle movement and some light wet paper towel dabbing (barely touching) on to the stuck parts I left them again for another few hours then did the same but this time they stopped allowing me to help after a bit.

I didn’t see them again until today and their legs are really bad and I’m sad for them. They let me pick them up and have been sitting on this wet paper towel for > an hour. They have some hair tangled with their leg so i’ve got most of that off but I feel like they’re not doing great?

Should I do anything?

How can I help this poor friend after a terrible moult? Scotland
