How do Stigmas work? Im kinda slow + how to make my units stronger

Ive been wanting to knowhow stigmas work since I would really benefit on how learning how to use them since ive been really just like putting random stigmas on random units, also if theres any other ways to boost my unit’s strength would be appreciated, also im F2P so yeah. 😛
