Old Joe

For the past few years old Joe has been feeling quite sad

Since happier and better times of he has had

Living on his own in his life's twilight years

His moods of reflection bring him close to tears

Three years ago in the early days of May

His soulmate Katie from life passed away

His sense of loss at her passing with him does stay

She is one that he thinks about every day

Devoted to him the soulmate of his life

She was more to him than a faithful wife

For love and companionship on her he did depend

On her passing happiness for him did end

A likeable fellow old Joe lives on his own

And of happier days in life he has known.
