Does it really make sense that God would punish all of humanity because of the fault of one man and one woman?
It seems insincere that God would make a man and woman with the capacity to fault and disobey and be tempted, then the first time they fall into sin, He not only punishes them but punishes the whole world as if two people are the representative of billions.
Factor in that these two people had no prior frame of reference or experience to call upon or learn from. They were brand new on earth just learning about everything for the first time, it seems a very harsh and flawed punishment for their very first mistake and extending that punishment to the rest of humanity seems unjustified.
Why would God not forgive them and give them a second chance since scripture says he is a forgiving God?
I grew up in a christian home, both of my parents are priests, my grandparents were catechists and priests, my uncle is a priest and I still go to church on Sunday so I don’t ask this question in bad faith. It’s just lately, I’ve been questioning things a lot more, no answer’s been satisfied and it’s become harder to reconcile inconsistencies with my own lived experience.
