Cognitive dissonance in feminist spaces
Ok can't wait to get told off for this one but it's been two years of me trying to reach out and I kind of don't care anymore.
Over the last two years feminism has been an unsafe space for me to open up about my experience with assault. It's like feminism has turned into how to put someone else's experience down and I actually don't know why.
It seems to me that feminism cares more about hypotheticals rather than the real world. So just because my story of assault includes trans people and sex workers I am unable to talk about it to feminists as if it's just a talking point and not real life experiences of me hiding behind the bed while someone is smashing up the house with a baseball bat. Why is that ok for me to have to go through that. Why is that person's identity more important than my safety? Or what about all of the times I was pressured into sex by these people while I was still in shock from a brutal assault. Why is that ok. Just because they do sex work it's ok to fully cross my boundaries?
On top of that the specific assault I am referring to was by a man and in the aftermath I developed actual PTSD around men, and honestly it's not nice, it's embarrassing and it means I don't go outside much. I get the feeling a lot of people here talk hypothetically about not liking men but I think if you experience such PTSD you actually don't want to hear about why people hate men. It actually doesn't help me and just makes me more anxious to go outside.
Where are the real safe spaces for women to talk about what happened to them?
