The meaning of it all. [Spoilers]
So I just watched the finale recently and I’m really satisfied with the ending.. although a bit sad.
Personally I think the single most powerful point of the series and its ending is that the *meaning* you find in a *stagnant life* are the connections and bonds you build with others… without that, life fades away.
Jax lead two existences… in the outside one he bonded with others and he built onto them and found meaning. And for the circus one, he broke all of his bonds and refused to find meaning in them. He even belittled and bullied others who tried to bond with him… and he ultimately caused everyone close to him and himself to abstract and regretted everything.
While we see the other characters slowly build stronger bonds towards the end of the series… and for this reason they lived with meaning. Even Caine realized he needed the humans and put his effort towards mending what he had broken.
Perhaps the point of Jax’s story is to express how different his life could have been depending on whether he strengthened or broke his bonds.
How different our own lives can go… when we break ties, choose to be alone or push others away. When we could instead lean on each other during stagnant periods of our lives.
Do you agree? Or did you feel something different than this?
