Why do many pickup drivers like to put on gigantic wheels and tires?

Foreigner here. I need some local perspectives on this. I get that the pickup truck thing is linked to male ego in American culture. But then in the town where I live in America, I’m seeing lots of pickup drivers putting on humongous wheels and tires - tires that you would use on tanks and fighter jets - on their brand new Ford Raptors with elevated and completely redesigned suspension. What is the point? Wouldn’t that increase wear and tear, if not directly void factory warranty?
