Is it even slightly worth getting a GRC at this point?
I'm transfem and in England. I've been out for 13 years, on HRT for 9 years, had bottom surgery 6 years ago, changed my name, the whole nine yards. At various points I've thought "I really should get a GRC before it's too late" but never gotten round to it, but now it's starting to look like it might be too late. I'm fairly sure I could get one easily, as I still have all my documents knocking around, but my question is...is there any point now?
I don't especially plan on getting married, as I'm disabled and unable to work, and formalising any kind of partnership would take out my benefits (aside from PIP) and force my partner to take care of me, so that's not really on the cards now. I'd thought the birth certificate thing might be handy, but now it's looking entirely pointless. I'm lucky enough to pass most of the time, so hopefully I can just fly under the radar and not get bothered in bathrooms and such. Should I bother applying for a GRC, or would it just be a bunch of faff and stress for no gain?
