Do zombies continually spawn in horde night?

I picked the game back up after not playing for years and got back into it pretty easily. Just playing solo, on seemingly standard settings

Just did my first horde night and there were way…way more zombies than I ever remember. They never stopped spawning, and I was constantly killing zombies until an hour before dawn when I slipped up and died.
