Game 2 Thoughts, Game 3 Adjustments.

Game 2 was a weird game. Some things that are just not in character took place and we need to look at how it impacts game 3.

Brunson is getting killed, and he is right to still force a few, we want the defense focused on him. But how often have you seen Brunson miss a three that open? He's like 90% in that spot. He nails that three, Spurs are done.

The two possessions in the 4th where Bridges basically played PG cannot happen again. The Knicks had multiple PG's on the court late in the midseason tournament against the Spurs, and it worked perfectly. If we are up late again, seeing Brunson and Alvo on the court together makes a ton of sense.

Brown should have called a timeout with Bridges looking lost holding the ball unable to get it to Brunson.

Lets face an obvious fact: the officials let them play all night, with the exception of two absurd calls on KAT. What the hell were those calls? Jesus Christ. Lets hope KAT gets fairer treatment at home.

We need to treat that as a loss. Blowing a good size lead late, and letting their top player get an open 18 footer, needs to be addressed.

The 14-0 run by the Spurs was bad enough, but the worst part was that it took place in 3 minutes. Over that span, very few shots were tightly contested. We had possessions where we did not look look we knew what we wanted to do.

We had the guy who was amazing all game barely touch the ball late. KAT needs to see more touches there.

In the past we lose that game. I have far more faith in this team than ever before. But there are far more adjustments to be made that after Game 1.

Both teams need the extra day off. But I think it helps Brunson more than the
Spurs. He rarely has back to back poor games, and I expect far more screens further up the court to give him a better view of the court, and for him to be playing far more off-ball possessions. I also hope we benefit from a tighter whistle; Brunson is getting murdered far too often.

I won all my bets in games 1 and 2 (Vegas fucked up at Knicks +6.5, lets be honest), but having a harder time with game 3. My gut tells me Brown changes things up some, maybe see some double big lineups and 2 PG lineups. Were those last 6 minutes of game 2 just our mistakes or did the Spurs figure something out? We are a team that was built for versatility, and it may be time to use that.
