| καὶ ἐπῄνεσα ἐγὼ σὺν πάντας τοὺς δυνατούς τοὺς ἤδη ἀποθανόντας ἐν κόπῳ ὑπὸ τὸν ἥλιον | and I praised all the mighty that died toiling under the sun |
| ὑπὲρ τοὺς πραεῖς, ὅτι αὐτοὶ κληρονομήσουσιν τὴν γῆν | more than the meek, who inherit the earth |
| καὶ ἀγαθὸς ὑπὲρ τοὺς δύο τούτους, ὅστις οὔπω ἐγένετο | but better than both of those, is him who has not yet been born |
| ὃς οὐκ εἶδε σὺν τὸ ποίημα τὸ πονηρὸν τὸ πεποιημένον ὑπὸ τὸν ἥλιον | who has not witnessed all the evil work that is done under the sun |
