Can this set of vehicles work in a 40K story?
I'm writing a story about a regiment. The 40K Imperium has a lot of leeway in tech and variety, after all it ranges from Feral planets to planets with similar tech level as our current planet to Hive/Fortress/Forge worlds.
Due to some Warpy stuff, the home planet of this regiment never received full STC's to build things like Lasguns, Land Raiders or Leman Russ's. So instead they focused on extremely light combat vehicles using the parts they could produce with the STC's.
The Yotoya Xullih is now one of the most prominent vehicle in their arsenal. With a rugged toughness for surviving extreme loads and extreme conditions, being repairable in most cases where most of the engine and chassis are still there. Often armed with weapons bolted to the back like various (heavy) Stubbers, Autocannons, Flame- or chemicalthrowers, Rocketlaunchers, Mortars, artillery and small short-ranged rocket artillery racks. Those without weapons bolted on will often be used as supply trucks for the last stretch to the frontline or as troop transports that drop soldiers off close to the fighting. After all, the vehicle being shot to a standstill halfway to the enemy means you just skipped half the trip on foot and are safer for it... right?
For armor it's body is essentially thick slabs of Flak armor cut to fit the vehicle. Not meant to give full protection but more to buy time to retaliate or evacuate. Even concentrated Lasgun fire can quickly whittle the armor down. The simplicity of the panels often means they are simply removed and a new shoddily cut piece of flak armor is placed in it's stead, sometimes right there in the field. Or damaged flak armor from fallen soldiers is scavenged and just bolted over the damaged sections.
Is there anything in the description of that vehicle that is so un-40K that I need to adapt it?
