I built a tool to help me choose Upwork jobs

I built a small Chrome extension to reduce wasted Upwork applications — would love feedback from freelancers

I’ve been using Upwork for a while, and one thing that kept frustrating me was how hard it is to quickly decide whether a job is actually worth applying to.

Even when a posting looks “fine”, you still end up spending Connects on jobs that later turn out to be:

- unclear in scope

- poorly defined requirements

- unrealistic in execution

- or just not a good match after deeper reading

I tried to solve this for myself by building a small Chrome extension that adds extra structured signals on top of Upwork job listings.

It analyzes the job page and shows things like:

- scope clarity signals

- requirement quality

- feasibility / complexity indicators

- uniqueness / similarity signals compared to other jobs

It basically tries to help answer: “Is this job actually worth my time applying for?”

It works directly inside Upwork — you press Ctrl, hover over a job and it shows a small panel with these signals.

It’s still very early and I’m mostly trying to see if this approach is actually useful for other freelancers or if I’m overengineering something people already solve manually.

If anyone here is actively using Upwork, I’d really appreciate feedback — especially if this would actually change how you decide what to apply for (or not).

I can share more details or screenshots if anyone is interested.
