Why don’t men allow me to disagree with them?
This is something I’ve observed throughout my life. I don’t always do well with social cues so it can go over my head but I’ve had multiple relationships in my life, platonic, romantic, and family alike, where I’ll be talking to a man, disagree with his opinion, then have him act like i have committed a personal crime against him. Usually results in pouting after the fact or refusing to communicate with me later on. I’ve seen some comments on Reddit recently from men saying they won’t tell their opinions to their wives, not because it isn’t important, but because they’ll disagree/dig their heels in or try to prove they’re right, and that may be different to what I’ve experienced, but it reignited this thought of mine and I’ve been reflecting on it. I don’t know, I guess I just don’t understand. What if I actually am right? Which if I’m being honest, in most of the situations in my life where I’ve doubled down, it’s because I was and wasn’t about to be steam rolled over something you could prove with a simple Google search. How am I supposed to have a conversation with someone that doesn’t allow me to veer away from their opinions or like it when I know more about something than they do? I’m sure some people will read this and assume I’m arrogant or something, but I don’t like fighting with people and I don’t need to feel like I’m right all the time, when I am wrong I either adjust my opinion or apologize depending on the situation. And no, that isn’t a difficult thing for me to do lol. most of the time when I disagree with someone I state it pretty simply, and it’s frustrating trying to have a normal conversation with someone for them to get angry with me over something that’s usually quite asinine.
