Can you still ruin your lineup with a creature substantially stronger than the others?

Hi, coming back to the game after a while, I remember that a long time ago you could obliterate the balance of the fights if you got a creature that was way stronger than your other animals, is this still a thing? Have they changed the balance in any way? Specially for weekly tournaments.
