\# \[Plugin\] MetaFileExtract: Organize your KOReader library directly from filenames

Hi everyone,

I've been working on a simple plugin to help keep my library organized without needing external database software.

\### What it does

It automatically extracts metadata (Title, Author, Series, Volume) directly from your file names and syncs them with \`.meta\` files. This keeps your library view clean and organized, allowing you to see book/series descriptions directly in KOReader.

\### Why use it?

\* \*\*No external software:\*\* Everything happens directly on your e-reader.

\* \*\*Clean library:\*\* Uses \`.meta\` files, which are automatically ignored by KOReader's file manager to prevent clutter.

\* \*\*Bulk-friendly:\*\* Includes a simple Windows batch tool in the \`tools/\` folder to help you standardize your library filenames quickly.

\### Using Descriptions (Synopses)

Want to see the synopsis for your book or series?

1. Create a text file with your description.

2. Rename it to match your \*\*Book Title\*\* or \*\*Series Name\*\* and change the extension to \`.meta\` (e.g., \`Death Note.meta\` or \`Project Hail Mary.meta\`).

3. Place this file in the same folder as your books. The plugin will automatically link this description to your book.

\### How to use

Rename your files first using the pattern: \`Title - Author - Keyword - Series Name #Index\`.

\*\*Series (Manga/Books):\*\*

\* \`Shangri-la Frontier - Katarina - Adventure - Shangri-la Frontier #1.cbz\`

\* \`Death Note - Tsugumi Ohba - Thriller - Death Note #1.cbz\`

\* \`One Punch-Man - ONE & Yusuke Murata - Action - One Punch-Man #1.cbz\`

\* \`Harry Potter - J.K. Rowling - Fantasy - Harry Potter #1.epub\`

\*\*Standalone Books:\*\*

\* \`The Midnight Library - Matt Haig - Fiction.epub\`

\* \`Rich Dad Poor Dad - Robert Kiyosaki & Sharon Lechter - Personal Finance.epub\`

\* \`The Little Prince - Antoine de Saint-Exupéry - Childrens Literature.epub\`

\* \`Project Hail Mary - Andy Weir - Sci-Fi.epub\`

1. Place the plugin in your \`koreader/plugins/\` folder.

2. Ensure your files follow the pattern above.

3. Open the File Manager in KOReader, tap \*\*Tools > More Tools\*\*, and select \*\*"Extract metadata from filenames"\*\*.
