Saw II and reception in Japan

I've recently rewatched Saw II for my film analysis class and the thing that struck me as odd was the reference to the subway attacks in japanese metro by Aum Shinrikyo.

Does anyone know if that part was censored or changed in japanese release? If not was there any backlash?

Will greatly appreciate any help.
