If Canadian education loses points in Express Entry, what exactly is the incentive to study in Canada?

I’m trying to understand the logic behind this proposed change, and I’d really appreciate different perspectives.

From my situation as an international student, I spent years studying in Canada, paying international tuition, and building work experience here under PGWP—all with the understanding that Canadian education would meaningfully improve PR chances through Express Entry.

If Canadian education points are reduced or removed, I’m struggling to see how that aligns with the idea of rewarding integration.

It also raises a practical question:
If someone has already studied, lived, and worked in Canada for years, how is that weighted equal to foreign education + experience in the same system?

I understand the system needs to be fair and flexible, and I’m not saying PR should be easier for international students by default. I’m just trying to understand the reasoning behind reducing weight for Canadian education specifically, given the time and financial investment involved.

Would be good to hear how others are interpreting this—especially those who think it’s a fair adjustment.
