I built self-hosted AI waifu bots for Discord that can talk, remember things, react to images, and chat with each other
For the past few weeks, I’ve been building Discord Waifu AI bots that you can add to your own discord server.
They can chat with users, talk between themselves, tag people, reply to messages, use server emojis, remember things long-term, and react to images. They only talk in the channels you explicitly allow.
The waifus do not just randomly spam messages. There is a separate “orchestrator” that decides who should reply next, whether anyone should reply at all, and can optionally give a short scene direction to help guide the conversation out of loops.
Right now, I’ve been getting good results with:
- DeepSeek v4 Pro Thinking for the waifus
- Gemini 3.1 Flash Lite for the orchestrator
- Claude Haiku 4.5 for long-term memory
If users send images, they are passed to the waifus too. For models that do not support images, like DeepSeek, the bot extracts the text from the image and sends that instead.
It is self-hosted and free, apart from your own API costs.
