Why do Democrats and the left fall into to "false cause fallacy" so much?
It seems like to many in this group, the outcomes are all that matter. While the inner personal choices between opertunity and outcome are ignored.
Some examples:
* With student loan forgiveness. It's just assumed that people must be unable to pay and that it cannot be to poor behaviors on the receivers part. But people are certainly could en mass just not pay them off, complain and under the current paradigm it would be assumed true. Even though the difference between those who can pay it and can't pay it is hidden.
* Another example is with racial wealth inequality. I grew up poor in the inner city wearing Payless shoes. So I know very well the difference between people spending money on things, collecting social support and then crying poverty versus people who don't buy luxury goods and live within their means and hopefully leave a little something to their kids. It's just assumed it has to be racism as to why there's wealth inequality. But it's an attribution error because you aren't actually showing cause. You're just jumping to outcomes, ignoring the culture, behaviors and choices and attributing racism.
* Another and probably the most famous is the gender wage gap. Individuals, Presidents, institutions and so on have all spread this one. When looking at the groups as wholes there may be a gap. But to attribute the claim of bigotry/prejudice via patriarchy/misogyny you can't just skip over the cause. You need to address the cause and when studies have done that it's shows that the argument of bias is largely not true and really it comes down to choices and societal factors/expectations (none of which are prejudice).
You don't need to refute the points. Instead just answer the question or down vote.
