GameStop is currently doing a promotion for trading in broken/defective consoles but wouldn't take any of mine a week ago?

Went to my local GameStop a week ago with 3 consoles. a switch that won't read games and has broken joy cons, a xbox 360 e that turns off and on, and lastly a Wii that has zero issues apart from the power cable being bent up and I have no other accessories/cords for it.
