Adobe thinks my student account is an organization account and now I can’t cancel my subscription

Hey guys!

I’m sure this subreddit gets a lot of posts from people trying to cancel their subscriptions, but I’m completely stuck and could use some advice.

I’m a college student and had to purchase Adobe Creative Cloud for one of my courses. I signed up using my university email/account, and my original plan was to downgrade or cancel once the class ended.

Now that the course is over, I’ve tried canceling, but Adobe won’t let me. Their system seems to think I’m part of an organization, so whenever I try to manage my subscription, cancel, downgrade, or contact support, it tells me I need to go through my university administrator.

The problem is that I already contacted my university’s IT department, and they confirmed that they can’t do anything on their end. They told me this appears to be an issue with how Adobe categorized my account. It’s just my personal student account, not an organizational license managed by the school.

At this point, I’m stuck in a loop where Adobe says to contact my university, and my university says they have no ability to manage or cancel the subscription.

I want to cancel and stop being charged every month, but Adobe literally gives me no option to do so because I supposedly don’t have “administrator permissions.”

Has anyone dealt with this before? What did you do to get it resolved? I’ve even considered disputing the charges through my bank/card issuer, but I’m not sure if that would work or create additional problems.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
