5th Metatarsal Fracture

so (5/29) i was at my table, stood up started walking without realizing that my left foot was completely asleep, rolled it pretty hard from what i remember. immediately significant pain couldn’t even stand up. next morning went to ortho urgent care, x-rays, PA didnt explain much just said “yup broken on 5th metatarsal zone 1” didn’t show x rays. put me in a small boot & said follow up in 3wks. i visibly was in so much pain, couldn’t bear any weight either. my boyfriend even mentioned how weird this was, in and out of there 20min.

(6/3) couldn’t take the pain when having to walk in the boot, outside of foot taking all the pressure & boot felt so big even making it tight. Went in asked for crutches, same PA said “sorry i‘m just that dr who’s used to saying rub some dirt on it & ur fine” she then apologized for not even asking how much pain i was in or not giving me crutches.
(6/5) two days later (yesterday) went to an orthopedic dr for 2nd opinion, got new x rays, immediately said i shouldn’t be walking on it. Gave me a new tall boot, kept me on crutches NWB until my follow up X-rays in 3 more wk. Asked about pain, explained things well, much more comforting. Showed me x ray on his phone (internet was down, can see on portal soon) but said the transverse fracture was most concerning to him...and how other place didn’t see this. said we can try NWB for few weeks but it is tricky spot cause could need surgery..

report from ORTHO says “Displaced transverse fracture of the fifth metatarsal with a visible line at the base, at the level of the fourth metatarsal cuneiform joint ”

i asked if it was displaced he said only approx. ~1mm but that’s not what he was worried about.. I don’t think surgery would be needed if it was only ~ 1mm which seems pretty minor to me.

happy i got another opinion or i would‘ve just kept pushing thru pain trying to walk.

day 8 since it happened, still swollen, bruising gone down now mainly on outside, toes, inside foot, toes keep going white/numb randomly immediately will elevate/ice can wiggle toes besides mainly pinky.
I am 25 female, very active. i think it should heal quick but really don’t want problems in the future! is this considered an avulsion fracture or Jones? how was everyone else’s healing ?
