Mark out drinks

My manager and trainer told me that sharing my free drinks with friends (like, you make one after your shift and give it to someone) is basically a fireable offence. How true is this? Has anyone had experience with this, and if I share a drink with a friend or someone else outside the store, could I get in trouble for it?
