First time homeowner and interesting in getting a water softing system

Had a water issue with our main water line.. A plumber did come out and shared with me that Las Vegas or the state of Nevada has very harsh hard water.

I live with two other people and we have pets. The home is about 1788 sqft.

I need help figuring out:
How to shop and compare systems
System installation- who do I call?
