I hate to admit it, but I LOVE timing-based catching

This feature is really, really fun. It's by no means a guaranteed catch, but it is a really good way to take advantage of mismatches or fit the ball in a tight window between zones.

Regardless of whether you time the catch or not, the defense still tries (and often succeed) to make a play.

Where it really shines is when the defense decides to leave their 5'8" corner on an island with your 6'4" WR (with gold 50/50). There's a really good chance he gets Mossed for a huge gain.

It also is awesome combined with the "Zone Awareness" setting in your offensive coach options.

With "Zone Awareness" on, your receivers will slow down when they reach a soft spot in a zone.

With the timing based catching, you can fire the ball in there, and grab a possession catch before the defense closes in on you.

Also, you can leave it on, and not use it.

It also unlocks a lot of animations I hadn't seen prior to turning it on. If you have the beta, go to practice mode and give it a shot. It's pretty great.
