Do orthodontists pause tray movement while doing elastics?

My orthodontist is so hard to get ahold of to ask questions. I asked them to share the clincheck but they forgot.

I started elastics 2 weeks ago for my bite, and switched to my new tray and like one or two days after I switched I noticed they were loose. It's super uncomfortable when loose and I don't know how I'm going to wear loose trays for 2 weeks at a time.

I decided to test it by trying on my next tray, and it fit perfectly (minus very bouncy molar), meaning my teeth aren't moving for this or the next tray at least. Do orthodontists typically pause tray movement when starting elastics?
