Is it worth it to get fitted, or should I just get Takomos?

Equipment

I’m in my late 20s and have been playing more recently, but I’m still pretty bad, usually shooting in the 90s.

Right now I’m using an old set of Walter Hagen T3 irons that I got as a gift when I was 16, and the set isn’t even complete. The lowest iron I have is a 6 iron, and I threw my 8 iron into the woods a few years ago, so I’ve just been playing without one. Lately I’ve actually been playing better and had one of my best iron days recently, so now I’m thinking it might finally be time to upgrade.

For reference, I hit my 7 iron around 175+ yards. I’ve been looking at Takomo irons because they seem like a good value, but I’m not sure if it’s dumb to order irons without getting fitted.

Part of me feels like getting fitted might be pointless because my swing isn't consistent.

Would you guys recommend getting fitted before buying irons, or is it reasonable to just order something like Takomos standard length/lie and play them? Also open to used iron recommendations around the same price range.

TL;DR: Late 20s, shooting in the 90s, playing old incomplete Walter Hagen T3s with no 8 iron and lowest iron is a 6. Hit 7 iron 175+. Worth getting fitted even if I’m inconsistent, or should I just buy Takomos/used irons?
