I hate the discourse around Juneteeth right now

TLDR: The Black community is having some sort of fallout over Africans trying to include themselves in Juneteenth celebrations.

I just hate the discourse because there's no reason for it. Juneteenth is about celebrating the freed slaves, many of whom were still African. African-Americans are descendants of Africans, so this idea that Juneteenth can only be about African-Americans is yucky to me.

It was Africans who were forced onto ships and brought to America. Black culture, African-American culture, is influenced and derived from various African cultures. So much of what we have is because of Africans.

We would not be here if they were never slaves. We should not be fighting over this shit. This shit is for the birds; leave it to the racists and non-Black people.
