Peaked too early?

Great to see all the 1978-style posts here of "we're gonna win this."

However, as someone who can (just) remember that campaign, and with clearer memories of 1982, 86, 90 and 98, my natural inclination is that we've peaked too early.

Can someone try to convince me otherwise?
