How to plan for future

Planning

Hi everyone,

I am 31F and currently have most of my savings in fixed deposits, with relatively little invested in equity. I had intentionally kept my money conservative because I was anticipating marriage-related expenses, but that relationship did not work out.

One of the reasons it affected me financially was that the person felt my parents were a future financial liability because they do not have a pension. My parents have their own savings, own their home, live rent-free, and have never asked me for financial support, but the experience made me think seriously about long-term financial security for both them and me.

Current situation:

Health insurance for my parents

Corporate medical cover as well

Emergency fund in place

Parents own their home and have their own savings

Most of my money is currently in FDs

No significant gold or jewellery assets

Good education and stable career

My goals are:

Ensure my parents remain financially secure as they age.

Build enough personal financial independence that I am never forced to stay in a bad situation for money.

If I marry in the future, be able to contribute my fair share toward wedding expenses without relying on either set of parents.

Build wealth efficiently while balancing these goals.

Given this situation, how would you allocate future cash flows between equity, debt, retirement investments, and any wedding-related savings? Am I missing any important protection or planning steps?
