When making a prayer rope, do you have to do it the old fashion way?

Let me explain further. I am a boy scout (BSP to be exact), i love knot tying, lashing, and all that, and I am thinking on using my talent on making prayer ropes. Learning the basic knots and advanced knots are really important in scouting, also for ranking up. I learned that the knot used for prayer ropes are called "diamond knots" (maybe cus they're hard like diamond lol), but I also learned that diamond knot is very useful for scouting cus its a REALLY good stopper knot.

I learned two ways on how to make this knot. The normal way, where there is many crosses, the story of the priest and deacon, and etc. And the easier way, where you make a carrick bend and kind of manipulate the knot and all.

My question is, does the way you make the knot matter? When I make a prayer rope, can I use the easier way rather than the traditional way? Here is a video of the easier version: (https://youtu.be/-LIHvRVg6NA?si=U5lVCO-HY0J42YsG)

I am asking this cus I wont only use this knot for making prayer ropes, but also for scouting. I first thought of learning both ways, but that just seems like a hassle, so I wanted to learn just one way. But which way should I learn?

I feel like I have to mention this too. Earlier morning, while doing my morning prayers, I mentioned to the Theotokos on how I wanted to make a prayer rope, and I asked her multiple stuff about it, but while telling her, I got reminded of my dream last night, and I had a dream of making a prayer rope the easier way. I paused at the realization of this, but when I got back to praying, I told her that I would ask you guys. Is this a sign of some sort?
