Bulwark Reddit tone crummy?

Hey Bulwark community,

Two-part question for you all:

1. I’m a member of a wide range of Reddit groups, some political, many not. Most of them are quite lovely in culture and a few are a bit punctilious but fine.

I love actual bulwark content partially because I find the hosts pretty earnest, friendly, and genuinely interested in a slightly wider range of perspectives than other political commentators. I was pretty shocked to discover that the Reddit bulwark feels more negative/vicious than any I frequent except for the famously merciless atheist subreddit. Do other people find it similarly mean or do I just pick the wrong threads?
