I made this game in unity, i've been using unity for over fifteen years now and I was frustrated when there was little news of DOTS this years, but the ECS system as it stands is actually awesome! (I have to admit) I have well over a thousand enemies on screen, each with physics (using the normal physics system and rigidbodies on those entities still so I can collide with them using my non-entity character controller and have knockback) and it's running smooth on my steamdeck through all my hundreds of hours of testing.

It took me weeks to figure out how to get it this stable (maybe months, realistically) and I've been thinking I'd make a youtube video about how i pulled that off (sicne that's how the megabonk guy got famous). Anyway I made a unity version of megabonk except you're on a snowboard and it runs at 60fps on my steamdeck with a thousand enemies all swarmed together and i'm pretty proud of that!

I ended up using the rukhanka animation system and fully replacing all the things I tried along the way with that because by the time i released my game, that package is just head-and-shoulders above the rest. You can really pull off magic with it, i'm sure some of you already know that

And remove lighting from your game, I'm anti-lighting now. Dang maybe I do have to make that youtube about the swarms of critters because it was actually interesting and I have gigs and gigs of saved profile data going through each ms spent in detail.
