Not an actuary BUT
Landed a part-time job working under a chief actuary at my company and I really enjoy what I do. We work with retirement plans and most of what I do is data entry, setting up testing, and printing reports as I don’t quite understand how to correctly interpret results or the “why’s” of it all (duh).
With that in mind, I have no schooling relative to this career or any prior desire to become an actuary… but said CA mentioned to me that I would make a good actuary. They are super chill, absolutely brilliant, and I trust their judgement, but is one opinion enough to believe this might be a good career path for me? I know that you can become one without a degree, but I feel going to school and getting a degree would be more beneficial. Has anyone had a similar experience ??
