Feeling frustrated, anxious, and overwhelmed at how the cards have fallen.
TR: Child loss mentioned, Vanishing Twin Mentioned
To preface. I'm a PCOS girlie. So we had to go through fertility medications to get pregnant for a chance I wasn't even sure was going to work. Surprise it worked! We found out it was twins at around 7 weeks. By 8 weeks, one twin had stopped developing. They told us it was a case of "vanishing twin." The other twin was doing great and even thriving and is still alive at my current gestational of almost 16 weeks.
The told us the twin other likely stopped developing from a chromosome abnormality. Which is heartbreaking. We tried to do the NIPT test to see the genetic makeup of the surviving twin. (They were di/di so separate sacs separate placentas)
We sent the blood work off and everything. It came back Inconclusive. They didn't even run the test at all because they couldn't tell the twins fetal DNA apart. So now we are simply waiting until the anatomy scan to know any chromosomal makeup of our remaining baby. Which will be in another month or so. We do know it's a boy because of a private ultrasound we had done. But other than that we are in the dark entirely on risks for this baby and it is so terrifying that the possibility of knowing early got ripped away from us. I guess I'm looking for support, advice, etc to deal with this anxiety. Thank you ❤️
