Restaurant work has some pretty helpful benefits
Hello all, just wanted to share what has been working for me and helping me keep a roof over my head. I don’t think restaurant work is talked about enough, especially within this sub. It’s a great option for those struggling to find work
So many posts in this sub are people asking how to get a few hundred dollars within a short amount of time, restaurant work is a potential solution to being short on cash before payday. Many positions get some form of cash tips (servers, bartenders, runners, and bussers)
Most non chain restaurants don’t post their job listings online, applying in person can land you a job quick. Free food is also a huge benefit. Food is either free or heavily discounted, I bring home dinner almost every night. This has helped my budget immensely, my SNAP benefits cover the groceries I do buy
The downsides are that many of these positions don’t offer any real benefits, like a retirement plan or health insurance. The work can also be physically demanding. Amongst the negatives there are many positives. My job gives me the ability to make ends meet
