Standing Tackle in Classic Control

Whenever the opposition is trying to build up, I try to block passes and position my players well. Often, it works as I wanted and my player is right in front of the player who's receiving the ball.

Except, unlike what many opponents can do, my players don't stick out their leg and tackle/intercept. They sort of get glued to the opponent, making it easy for them to shield, turn and then pass again. However, I've faced players who can both follow my passes (I can do that) and also tackle me before I even trap the ball properly or try to turn (I'm not holding dash).

What button allows me to do that tackle? The Tackle button does a sliding tackle.
