Flying overseas or CFI for hours?
Hey guys!
I recently switched careers from being a wildland firefighter to flying. Got my ppl in April and working on my instrument right now.
After talking to some people (instructors at my school) I’m thinking of the possibility of flying overseas to get hours instead of being a CFI.
The scenario would go:
- Get CPL & multi
- Time build to 500hrs
- Get hired with an airline overseas and hopefully get experience either turbine/something bigger than a 172
But I’m concerned with how difficult it is to get hired overseas. I don’t know anyone personally that has gone that route. I hear people say it’s easy but nobody does it. Makes me think it’s more difficult than everyone thinks.
If you have any advice on how to go about this route or if it’s a bad idea let me know! Thank you
P.S. I’m a little bit of an unorthodox guy and am 32 so I’m trying to build up quick by zigging instead of zagging and getting away from the US doesn’t bother me.
