I've switched from Pioneer to Standard to mainly Draft now, because I don't like the speed of the formats and I'm not a big fan of commander.

I was drafting ECL and SOS pretty heavily and I was looking for a way to share the magic of these sets with friends, who don't often play Magic.
I've drafted with my friends before, but it was a challenging experience to them for sure.
I've gotten a lot of people to play Magic before and the sentiment was pretty similar each time.
They don't like the speed of current 60c formats, draft is too demanding and building decks takes too much knowledge.

They all loved Jumpstart though - just good old shuffle up and play fun.

So I thought precons are the way. I was trying to capture the essence of a set for each archetype and asked myself "If you'd drafted the perfect deck, what would it look like?"

In addition to that, I wanted the decks to be somewhat versatile. They serve as a neat way to collect cards, including several art-styles and main-pieces of the sets.
They can even be used to play some version of Brawl, Commander or Oathkeeper.

General Rules:
\- 40 cards
\- 16 lands
\- each creature max 2x.
\- each NCS preferably 1x.
\- - will allow two for balance-, flavor-, or lack of alternatives-reasons
\- each Legendary Creature max 1x, exception for Alt-Arts.
\- A Signature Creature (Commander) - only one Art-Style, pref. Alt./Extra
\- A Signature Spell (Charms, Commands, etc.)
\- Cards must be assigned based on flavor, not just color.
(f.e. \[\[Last Grasp\]\] goes to Witherbloom, not Silverquill)

I tested several playstyles with friends, here's what we came up with:

1v1 Brawl-like:
\- 25 Life
\- Signature Spells MV 1+2: Cost increased by 1
\- Signature Spells MV 5+: Cost decreased by 1
\- Increased cost per cast +2, caps at two times
\- Can be cast once for free when the Commander is on the battlefield
\- Doesn't increase the next casting cost
\- After that, Commander must return to Command-Zone for it to be castable again.
\- Commander casting cost increase by two, caps at two times

FFA-Commander is played with 30LP - 40 cards are not fit for 40 life.

I did this for SOS, ECL and SNC so far - TDM is next on the list and then Reality Fracture at the end of the year. Probably going do be the Planeswalker versions as partner signature cards. I designed some very small and tight deckboxes to keep the foil-curling at bay, because I love foils. 3D printed and then painted.

How balanced are they? Hard to say. We have had Capenna decks win against Strixhaven decks, but I feel the odds are against Capenna. Power-creep is real.
I'm trying to have my LGS set up a little tournament with these decks in a few months, so we'll see what's going on and maybe what needs improvement.
You'll gather most of the cards while drafting or at prerelease. Most of it is draft-chaff and locals will gladly sell them to you, so you don't have to pay postage, other things fairly affordable.. the prices of cards that are (anticipated to be) good in commander are the financial challenge here.

It's super fun in any case and new players and veterans alike loved playing with these decks.

I just wanted to share this with you.

(Hope the flavor of the post is alright; didn't find anything fitting better)
