Just switched a week ago to EF after exclusively pumping and combo feeding which caused constipation. My baby has some blood on his butt from constipation.
Hello - I stopped pumping a week ago because I was already an undersupplier and it was contributing to PPD. He was already combofed, about 25% formula 75% BM. He’s now 100% formula fed on the same formula he was on before, which is Similac sensitive and Parents choice sensitive advantage.
My baby is 5 months and we are also introducing purées with the guidance of his pediatrician.
However I think the switch caused some constipation and tonight he was really having a tough time pooping. I fed him some prune puree (about one oz) with about 1/2 oz of water mixed in. He pooped an hour later but it was SO HARD, like a grown man poop, when I went to wipe him, there was a little blood on the OUTSIDE of his rectum. The poop was a normal brown color. I wiped it off and immediately put some Vaseline on a q tip to apply it to the rectum (but not inside) and he quickly started acting like his normal self. No more blood came out nor did the actual poop have blood in it.
Yes, I have a pediatrician and I am going to take him on Monday and I did take a photo to show them (no I will not post it here I promise)
But I’m curious if ANYONE else experienced this due to switching to formula? I cannot relactate. I will legit go insane.
