I'm a solo dev, and this is my app Nagi - a minimalist Pomodoro/focus timer for iOS and Android. Posting partly to share it, but mostly because I'd genuinely like honest first impressions before I keep building.

The backstory: most focus timers I tried were trying really hard to keep me engaged. Streaks nagging me, leaderboards I didn't ask for, a little tree I had to keep alive. At some point the app itself became the distraction. So I built the opposite of that.

Nagi is just a timer. The main thing that makes it feel different: instead of seconds ticking down, your session shows up as a 30x30 grid of dots that gradually fills in — abstract and calm, without the anxiety of watching numbers disappear. When the session ends you get a gentle notification. That's it.

What it does:

  - 25 / 50 / 90-minute presets with automatic work → break transitions
  - Tag sessions (Work, Study, Creative, Exercise, Personal) and see today's timeline
  - Light/dark themes using Catppuccin palettes — warm and easy on the eyes
  - Notification sounds you can customize or turn off entirely
  - Works fully offline

What you won't find: no streaks, no badges or points, no leaderboards, no account sign-up, no ads, no tracking. Everything stays on your device. No guilt if you skip a day, no rewards for showing up.

(凪 is Japanese for a calm, windless sea — that's the feeling I was going for.)

It's free. There's an optional Pro that unlocks custom durations, custom tags, and full history + weekly insights — but the core timer is fully usable without paying.

What I'd love feedback on:

  1. Does the dot-matrix display click for you, or do you miss a normal countdown?
  2. Is anything about onboarding/first run confusing?
  3. What would make you actually keep it on your home screen?

Thanks for reading — happy to answer anything in the comments.

I got tired of focus apps that felt like productivity homework, so I built a calm one. Would love your honest take.
