Just Broke Up With My Boyfriend.

venting/ranting

So some back story. Me and my now ex boyfriend met in person. We broke up after a few months because my dad threatened to unalive him. Long story short i ended up in a mental hospital. Then ended up moving in with my aunt and uncle 6 states over. The whole time I was thinking about him, and I ended up calling him and getting back together. Because in my head all I could think was "what if we could build a life together?".
I had changed, a lot. I was impulsive self-centered and honestly manipulative. But he still cared about me despite that so now that I was a better person everything would be a fairy tale, right? No. Towards the end of the relationship I started to notice that while, I do love and care about him. It's just in a different way than a partner would.
He kept saying things that made me feel responsible for his feelings and his health. He kept saying things about the future that we talked about a lot but everything he was saying was pretty much defendant on how I feel and how I wanted things. And I started to think about if we should stay together. We talked a little bit about it, and he didn't really see what I was saying, and I can't blame him. In the past he's had shitty partners me included. He would say thing like "you're the only person that has been this kind to me" and stuff like that. And while that would seem sweet at first it honestly made me feel responsible for his feelings and like he was dependent on me. Which honestly, I'm not innocent in this. I was feeding into it because I like the attention. But then it became more of a "Is he doing this because he wants to or because he thinks I want this?". And eventually it led to me feeling trapped.
I want this to be made clear. He did pretty much nothing wrong, he was supportive, kind, and loving, but I just couldn't. It was more of a me problem really.
I eventually ended up breaking it off. He took it very maturely and calmly. But he said "Don't feel guilty for your choices. you made the right call. I probably couldn't have been able to make you happy anyways. Have a good night let's keep as friends or don't it your choice". Which made me feel more responsible for he his feelings, but I had to remind myself that, this is what made me feel trapped don't get sucked back in. So, I said I'm sorry he felt that way and he said another thing and I said, again I'm sorry you feel that way, but we should continue this conversation, goodnight.
Anyway, I broke up with him like 20 minutes ago and I'm still deciding whether we're going to be friends or not. I'm going to take some time and think about it. Keep you posted.
