Bunny passed away suddenly

RIP

Hello everyone, I just need to talk with someone… My bunny wasn’t feeling good 2 days ago, he was acting distant and wasn’t eating. We took him to the vet first thing in the morning where they diagnosed him with a rare liver disease. Since it was a Saturday they couldn’t operate at our usual vet clinic, so we drove 2 hours away to another clinic where they accepted him immediately and he underwent surgery. Unfortunately little buddy didn’t make it… He was only 1 year and 4 months old. I adopted him when he was 6 months old and I had so many plans for us and was envisioning his life as a senior. I can’t wrap my mind around this, it all happened so fast in less than 24 hours. The vet said that there really was no way to prevent it and it’s a condition that has been recently diagnosed and is still being studied. I miss him so much. Today we’re going to go pick him up at the clinic and we will bury him in a public pet graveyard. First we’ll pass home to let our other two bunnies and cat smell him so they can grieve too and not just think he has vanished.
This all feels so unreal. On one side I’m glad he passed under anesthesia and didn’t feel any more pain, but I just wish so bad things had gone differently. This is my first loss and him being so young hurts even more, I really thought we’d have all the time in the world.
I will do my absolute best to give my other two buns and the kitty all I can, I just wanted all my pets to be healthy and happy.
How does one go on about life after something like this? This is my first morning without him. The house feels quieter, emptier. His litter is still there, as are his water and food bowl, his little blanket. Everything is there but him. I don’t feel like eating, sleeping or doing much of anything. I just don’t see how will I ever go on with life and not think about him 24/7. My heart hurts, I just don’t understand why or how. I can’t believe he only had one summer, one Christmas, one birthday and one valentine. I wish I had done more. I wish I had taken more pictures and videos. I wish I had been more. I wish my boy was still with us. He was a bundle of joy, so full of life, running everywhere, following everyone, always so full of energy and love to give. And now he’s just gone. Rest in peace little Cico, u will forever be loved and remembered, u will forever carry a piece of our hearts.
