How long will it take before I can resume physical activity after an appendectomy?

I had a laparoscopic appendectomy a couple of days ago, and my surgeon didn't provide much information about when I can return to work. I'm wondering how long it took others who have gone through this before they were able to go back to a physically demanding job that involves constantly carrying around 100 lbs all day.
