Found the solution to my 2.4Ghz issues

OTHER, GENERAL

Hello!

I, like some others, have had many issues with my IoT devices and anything that happens to roam to the 2.4Ghz band. This started the day I replaced my Eero Pro 6 with the Eero Pro 7 as part of a service upgrade from 1Gbps to 2Gbps. I was convinced it was some sort of firmware issue because none of the standard configuration based troubleshooting helped at all. It's been like 2 months with no solution. I configured a cheapo random wireless router as an AP earlier today just to get things up and reliable until a firmware patch that happens to fix my issues rolls around, and had the exact same problems as my Eero. After quite a lot of troubleshooting and unplugging many things to check and see if they're the source of my issues, it ended up being the wireless dongle to my Glorious Model O 2 Pro mouse, which is in the same room but opposite side. When the mouse is turned off, the dongle does some sort of power ramp up I guess to find it, and just nukes my 2.4Ghz band. I don't know if this Eero model is less tolerant of interference, or I ran a firmware update for the mouse same day or something, but I've repeatedly and 100% reliably pinpointed my issues to that dongle being plugged in while the mouse itself is off. I did email their support to let them know what I experienced.

I suppose I did have a second node in my living room when I had the 6 pro which I unplugged, so maybe everything was using backing on that second node before for 2.4Ghz by chance. It was more central.

Anyway, just wanted to share my experience! Maybe someone else will be able to track down a similar source of headache for their 2.4Ghz band. I was starting to eye Ubiquiti equipment, so this is going to save me a lot of money!
